Today the judge at the Court of Justice at The Hague provisionally dismissed Heineken's request that sales of the PerfectDraft, the beer tap for at home developed by Philips and Belgian company InBev, be stopped in the Netherlands. Sales can continue. Heineken had asked for this as the Dutch beer company believes perfectDraft infringes on its patents. But the judge's preliminary ruling states that the beer tap does not do so. The ruling is in line with Philips and InBev's expectations, and means that consumers will continue to have a choice. Although this is a provisional verdict, Philips is confident about the proceedings due to take place in the first quarter of 2007. The PerfectDraft is available in the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium. Click here for more info (only available in Dutch). |
