Philips appoints three new members to Group Management Committee

Amsterdam, The Netherlands– Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced the promotion of three Philips executives to the company’s Group Management Committee:

 

The appointments have been approved by Philips’ Supervisory Board and will take effect on February 1, 2007.

Mr. Eric Coutinho (55), the Company Secretary and Chief Legal Officer. Mr. Coutinho joined Philips in 1979, and held a number of positions as a lawyer in the Dutch country organization, in the mergers and acquisitions group and in the company’s head office in Amsterdam before his appointment as Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary on May 1, 2006.

Mr. Gerard Ruizendaal (48), Chief Strategy Officer and Group Controller. Mr. Ruizendaal joined Philips in 1984, and held a number of positions in different divisions and countries; among others he was chief financial officer of Lighting Europe, Lighting Asia and of Consumer Communications. In 2001 he was appointed Group Controller, and in 2005 also head of Group Strategy.

Mr. Hayko Kroese (51), Global Head of Human Resources Management. The intention to appoint Mr. Kroese to the Group Management Committee was already announced on January 9, 2007.

 

Mr. Gerard Kleisterlee, Philips’ President and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “These appointments will further strengthen our ability to tie support from key functions closer to desired business outcomes. I welcome Eric, Gerard and Hayko to the Group Management Committee.”
