Philips will be holding its Annual General Meeting of Shareholders at the Hotel Okura on the Ferdinand Bolstraat in Amsterdam, on Thursday, March 29. The meeting will begin at 14.00 CET.

At the occasion of Philips Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on March 29, President and CEO Gerard Kleisterlee showed Philips’ award-winningstreet lighting solution. It provides energy savings of more than 50% compared to old inefficient technology and a powerful and high quality white light. In that meeting, Mr Kleisterlee highlighted Philips leadership position in lighting. Its innovations in LEDs and the need for more energy efficient solutions are strong drivers to accelerate growth, he said.  

Philips full range of energy efficient lighting solutions has the potential to save 20 – 40% in energy consumption, which in Europe equals 14 - 28 billion euros in running costs, or the equivalent per year of 59 - 118 million tonnes of CO2, 200 – 400 million barrels of oil, or the output of 67 – 134 power plants (@ 2TWh/yr).
