Dr. Peggy J. Fritzsche, MD, former president of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)

The 88th president of the RSNA in 2003 (since December 2002), Dr. Fritzsche has provided outstanding and enthusiastic service to the radiology community throughout her career. While at medical school Dr. Fritzsche realized that the specialty of radiology offers unique challenges and is extremely broad involving many areas of the medical field. Dr. Fritzsche believes in combining knowledge, compassion and communication skills to improve patient experiences. She is also a driver lobbying legislators on medical concerns.

Peggy Fritzsche started her career as a resident in radiology at the White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. In 1971 she returned to her medical school, Loma Linda University of Medicine in California to take up a cardiovascular fellowship. From here she moved to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1973 to achieve expertise in emerging areas of radiology. After this fellowship, Fritzsche returned again to the faculty of Loma Linda University where she has remained a faculty member.

 

 

From 1991, Peggy Fritzsche has been the medical director of two outpatient imaging centers in California. She is responsible for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (P.E.T.) examinations.

In addition to her position as president of the RSNA, Peggy also sits on the Councilor Committee of the American Association of Women Radiologists (AAWR) where she was formerly the President. She is also a councilor of (on) the American College of Radiology (ACR) council and a member of the Board of Director at the Society of Uroradiology (SUR). Fritzsche is also a member of numerous professional medical societies and has received honored fellowship status from the ACR and honorary membership from the European Congress of Radiology and the Swiss Radiology Society. She was president of the San Bernardino Medical Society and is a delegate to the California Medical Association and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Fritzsche graduated from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan before attending the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. Following this, Fritzsche completed an internship at the Charles Kettering Memorial Hospital in Kettering, Ohio.

Dr. Fritzsche was born in Dayton, Ohio in the US. She is married to Anton Hasso, MD and they have two grown sons, Stephen and Martin.
