NAM and Philips continue to help birds migrate safely across North Sea

Ameland pier now equipped with bird friendly lighting following the worlds first offshore platform

Amsterdam/Assen, The Netherlands – Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHI) and NAM (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij) have developed a new type of lighting to help birds to safely migrate across the North Sea.  The new type of lighting only uses a limited part of the colour spectrum. The result is a unique light colour that is less distracting for birds during migration. After a successful pilot on the worlds first offshore platform in the North Sea, the pier on the Dutch island of Ameland will now be equipped with the ‘Bird Lighting’ .
